Wrinkles, folds, and other visible signs of aging are caused by a range of different factors. Some are controllable, such as diet, smoking, and exposure to the sun, and some are simply a result of the natural aging process.

Why Does Skin “Age” ?

As your skin ages, the quantities of three substances decrease –

1. collagen
2. elastin
3. hyaluronic acid

All are compounds that keep your skin firm, smooth and taut.  When you have less of them, skin can sag and wrinkle.  Unfortunately, as we age we steadily lose all three.

How Does Restylane Help?

Restylane™ is formulated from hyaluronic acid, a compound that occurs naturally in the human body.

Hyaluronic acid is responsible for cushioning and lubricating body tissues.  Restylane™ fills in wrinkles and folds with hyaluronic acid that is not derived from animals.

This eliminates the possibility of allergic reactions to animal proteins. The effects of Restylane™ generally last about six months, at which point the treatment can be repeated.
