JANET NEWMAN: I'm Janet Newman; I'm a certified Medical Esthetician. I've been in the industry for 21 years and today I'm going to be talking about doing microdermabrasion which has been around in the United States for 11 years. It's been in Europe a little bit longer than that. What it does is a skin resurfacing technique, and by resurfacing, we take off the dead skin cells, and taking off the top layer of dead skin cells tries to renew your skin cells from underneath. You have a cellular memory underneath your skin that replaces your old skin, and as you age you don't replace your skin cells as fast as you did when you were younger. So what we do is we speed up that process unnaturally, but it does work. And so if you do it every four to six weeks, it just replaces your old skin faster and gives you a renewed look on a faster regular basis.

We have something called the Vibradermabrasion, and it's the newest technique out and it's done with a small blade. And it goes over the skin without pulling or tearing the skin, so it's the newest version out and it's a whole lot better for your skin. It doesn't harm the skin, it doesn't break the capillaries, and it can be done anywhere on the body. So it's really good for folliculitis, the clogged pores, and a lot of people get that on their legs and on their back. It's really easy to do a back facial with it and other their arms. So it's a little bit better to deal with than the crystals and a lot more efficient. Anybody's a candidate for it. We can use it on any type of skin, young or old, and we can use it on any skin color, on any skin type, and it works excellent for acne because it does take off the top layer and the top layer is where the bacteria is being held. So it's an excellent intro into getting into the bacteria level, and then you can put the medication in, and then we can follow it up with something like an oxygen facial, you can use oxyceuticals that we have. We can put the oxygen into the new cells and put some actually minerals and some medication in there and follow it up with some home care for the acne patients.
