DR. DARREN FARNESI: I'm Darren Farnesi; I'm a board certified family physician. I have a Bachelor's Degree in physiology from UC Davis and a medical degree from UC Irvine, and I did my residency here in San Diego at Grossmont Hospital in family medicine. I currently work in the Hillcrest Clinic which is on 4th Avenue and Hillcrest. We have a nice little, cute little white house with lots of parking in the back. It's a warm, friendly atmosphere, kind of quiet clinic. Dr. Heimer is there with me on Fridays. At Hillcrest Clinic we offer pretty much every service that we have here in the Encinitas Clinic. We have laser therapies, intense pulse light, photodynamic therapy, Botox and injectable fillers. I also do anti-aging medicine or age management medicine which involves a comprehensive look at people's overall health and wellness and may involve a comprehensive physical exam, medical history, nutritional analysis that may involve weight management, as well as bioidentical hormone replacement if needed, and an in depth hormone analysis.
One of the reasons I do this is I just absolutely love what I do. I feel like I'm an artist almost sculpting someone's face when I'm working on their face and the hours just fly by. I really feel like I've found my passion and that's neat. I also really enjoy anti-aging medicine because it appeals to a side of me that is focused on preventive health care, health and fitness. I feel like traditional medicine pretty much treats diseases after they happen and I think there's enough evidence out there that we can prevent disease before it happens. This is probably the wave of the future and I think if you're not paying attention to the research that is going on in age management, you're going to miss the boat. I think it's the way to really make your patients feel happy, healthy, and live a stronger, longer life.
